Who we are

This site will provide four dimensional reconstructions of embryos and primitive developing systems. They range in completxity from human to chick, to the simplest worms to multicellulars molds.

Each embryo will be reconstructed beginning at the single cell stage, and will include every cell and every nucleus through every cell devision. As quantitation of different events for each embryo is collected, it will be made available on this site,

Embryos will be reconstructed using the unique 3D-DIAS software developed in the Keck Facility at the University of Iowa. This software combined with differential interference contrast imaging, allows reconstructions of cells, and later groups of cells and tissues, of the same embryo at 5 second intervals, providing unique continuity and detail. As each embryo is reconstructed through development, the dynamic 4 dimensional reconstruction in the web site will be updated
