Traffic Management in "Hank"
There are currently two types of traffic management in "Hank":
The ambient traffic manager ensures that there is a certain amount of traffic always surrounding a specific object (stationary or moving) in "Hank". This object will generally be the driver car. As the car moves, so does the area of ambient traffic generation (sample screen shot). Light blue cars are generated by the ATM, white cars are those specifically requested from the GTM, and the grey car is the driver car.
The grid will only be visible in the 2D mode.
Ambient traffic is useful in creating a certain amount of background traffic in which to embed specific scenarios/events in "Hank".
It will soon be possible to have several regions of ambient traffic (with different traffic densities if required) in "Hank".
The general/global traffic manager allows users to specifically request autonomous cars be generated on a given road at a given rate. Both the rate of generation or the type of vehicle can be specified or left random.
This will be useful in generating scenario specific traffic required for an event or experiment.
