Announcements 12/12/06: The final exam will be held in 140 SH from 2:15pm to 4:15pm. Any schedule conflict must be notified to the instructor by 12/05/06. 11/17/06: State Farm will offer a company tour. Please email me if you are intrested. There will be a facility tour in the morning and the panel discussion with security people. 11/02/06: Prof. Alberto Segre kindly agreed to give a talk in class on Thursday, November 2 about his paper on database privacy issues. His paper, "Privacy-preserving data union", is here. 10/31/06: Prof. Doug Jones kindly agreed to give a guest lecture on October 31 on electronic voting. He is our in-house expert on security issues on electronic voting. You can read more at his Voting and Elections page. 10/08/06-10/11/06: The instructor will be out of town. Please direct all your questions to the TA, or wait until 10/12/06. 9/20/06: Thanks to Ben, I discovered an error in the previous version of the textbook. In Figure 2.10, the last box in the decryption process should be ENCRYPT, not DECRYPT. 9/13/06: Any clarification on the assignment will be posted at Assignments page. Take a look at it before sending me an email. 9/13/06: If you still need to acquire the textbook, IMU bookstore has 13 copies as of yesterday. Iowa Book ran out of it, but they will be happy to order one for you. 9/11/06: State Farm will come to the class tomorrow for a 5-10 minute presentation. Please be on time and bring your resume if you are interested. 8/29/06: There is a discussion board in ICON. The participation in the online discussion there counts towards class participation. 8/28/06: Professor Ross Anderson's famous book "Security Engineering" is now available online. This is a great book by itself, and you can read the relevant chapters along the lectures. 8/27/06: The lecture schedule is up. You can access the schedule and the corresponding lecture notes at Schedule tab above. 8/24/06: The slides for the first lecture is here. The slides and the lecture schedule will be posted here starting from next week. 8/21/06: The enrollment is currently full.
