Announcements:

• (12/7/05) -- Grades for homeworks 9 and 10 have been posted.
• (12/7/05) -- Final exams will be available to examine from either Friday the 16th or Monday the 19th. You may take them home after grades are due (after Wednesday the 21st). Grades will also be posted on this website, in the usual location.
• (12/7/05) -- The final exam review sheet is now available. This sheet includes topics and questions that may be on the final exam. Since some of the questions may be on the final, I will not answer any of the questions posed on this sheet via e-mail (though I will discuss them in person). Also note that I will hold three more office hours this semester:
  • Thursday, December 8th from 10:45--12:15
  • Friday, December 9th from 10:45--12:15
  • Monday, December 12th from 10:45--12:15
  You may also send me e-mail to set up alternative times.
• (11/16/05) -- This might be causing some of you trouble: I copied the scene file from my HW 9 webpage to the HW 10 webpage, but all my example images were rendered using a 90 degree field-of-view, not a 60 degree field of view! This was noted on the first example image, but I've clarified the scene description on the HW 10 page, as well.
• (11/15/05) -- The machines in 301 MLH will work for Homework 11, so the assignment posted below is the correct one, and will be the final assignment for the course. If you have problems or questions getting the Windows executables to work on your machine, please use the Linux lab in 301 MLH and your CS/DIVMS account. If you are having difficulty getting the Linux executables to work in 301 MLH, I will post some tips on the Homework 11 Resource Page before I go out of town on Friday.
• (11/13/05) -- The resources for homework 10 now include snippets of code from my working HW9 prototype. For those of you who failed to get HW 9 working correctly, this should be enough to get you started on homework 10. In fact, all that's missing are a few header files, variable declarations, and the Plane class.
• (11/08/05) -- Now that the semester is winding down, it is time to think about your options for MORE GRAPHICS!
  1. Be a student volunteer at ACM's SIGGRAPH conference (the premier graphics conference), to be held in August 2006 in Boston. It's a great chance to see lots of exciting graphics stuff, meet new people, find out about graphics jobs (and what it takes to get them), and get a subsidized trip to boot!
  2. Register for my Spring Semester course 22C:196 Topics in Graphics (Advanced OpenGL), which will be less programming intensive, but focus on more advanced techniques for OpenGL rendering. Note the scheduled time is tentative.
  3. Register for my Spring Semester advanced graphics seminar course.
• (11/06/05) -- So I was reminded this weekend about something I wrote a long time ago that might help you on your ray tracing assignments. I outlined, with images, some of the errors I encountered when writing my first ray tracer.
• (10/28/05) -- I'm pretty sure there's one student who got a few points added back on the midterm that I didn't get a chance to record the new score before you left my office. If I gave you extra points on the midterm, please check your score, and come talk to me if I forgot to note it in the updated scores
• (10/26/05) -- Note: For Assignment 8 you can use a 512 x 512 window (instead of 640 x 480). This will help you read your depth texture into memory. Also, make sure you specify TexParameters like WRAP_S and MAG_FILTER for your depth texture.
• (10/26/06) -- I've posted slides about shadow mapping and automatic texture generation (below).
• (10/24/05) -- Additional resources have been posted for homework 8.
• (10/24/05) -- The midterm key is now available, for a very limited time.
• (10/10/05) -- I have posted the midterm exam review sheet.
• (10/6/05) -- Today in class, I constantly used glBindTexture( myTexture ) on the board. This is incorrect. I should have been using glBindTexture( GL_TEXTURE_2D, myTexture ).
• (9/29/05) -- I brought the graded HW4 to class today and forgot to hand them out. You can pick them up in my office, if you can't wait till Tuesday. A key will be posted at some point, as will an updated grade list.
• (9/12/05) -- Grades from Homework 1 have been posted. Sorry about the delay.
• (8/29/05) -- Due to a change in Qi's schedule, her office hours have changed to 12:50-2:20 pm on Mondays & Wednesdays.
• (8/23/05) -- The syllabus I passed out today in class listed Qi's office wrong. Her new office is in 101K MacLean Hall (right next to my office).
