• Read Wikipedia's article on the "Hodgkin-Huxley model". (Prof. Mitchell says "You can tell the students not to worry too much about the equations.")
• Try one or both of the Web applets (software programs that run interactive applications on a web page) listed in the "External links" section at the bottom of the article. You'll be able to create various plots of voltage as a function of time.
• Writing assignment: write one-half to one page on your thoughts about the reading.
