Welcome to The University of Iowa Computer Science Department. The department was established in 1965 and is one of the oldest departments of its kind in the United States. It awards BA, BS, MCS, and PhD degrees. Faculty and students conduct research in many areas including algorithms, automated reasoning, computational biology, databases and data mining, distributed systems, formal methods, graphics and virtual environments.

June 23 Alberto Segre's former PhD student (AMCS, 2001), Sean Forman, was interviewed by Sports Illustrated about Baseball-Reference.com, a Website he created in 2001.
