Welcome to the Iowa Database and Emerging Applications (IDEA) Lab. The director of IDEA lab and the Database Group is Dr. Ramon Lawrence. IDEA Lab is affiliated with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Iowa.

The Database Group studies a wide-range of database topics with primary focus on data and schema integration, query processing, and transaction management. We also apply database technology in emerging areas such as bioinformatics, peer-to-peer systems, XML, and Internet databases. A major goal of our projects is the application of database concepts to diverse fields and problems.

The members of IDEA Lab are actively undertaking research in a variety of areas and are interested in establishing connections with the community. The Database Group welcomes undergraduate and graduate students and other interested faculty to participate in group meetings and research. We are also interested in collaborating with other departments, faculty members, and private industry on applied database projects.
