Informatics Cognate: Music

BA in Informatics

An informatics major with a music cognate requires a total of 48 semester hours, at least 23 of them consisting of coursework from the Music Department, with some from Cinema and Comparative Literature, and Theatre Arts. The major is intended for students interested in audio recording, manipulation of sound, and digital media. Study in this area may lead, for example, to careers in the entertainment industry. Entering students are assumed to have some level of basic musicianship, and auditions may be required for admission. This cognate requires 23-25 s.h.
