Informatics Minor Requirements

Requirements for a Minor in Informatics

A minor in informatics requires 16 semester hours. Students must complete 13 s.h from the informatics core:

22C:005 Introduction to Computer Science
3 s.h.
and
22C:080 Programming for Informatics
4 s.h.
and
22C:084 Databases for Informatics
3 s.h.
and
     
22C:082 Human Computer Interaction
3 s.h.
or
22C:086 Networking and Security for Informatics
3 s.h.
 
TOTAL  
13 s.h.
 

and the informatics statistics requirement, i.e., one course from among the following:

22S:008 Statistics for Business
4 s.h.
or
22S:025 Elementary Statistics and Inference
3 s.h.
or
22S:030 Statistical Methods and Computing
3 s.h.
or
22S:039 Probability and Statistics for Engineering and the Physical Sciences
3 s.h.
or
22S:101 Introduction to Biostatistics
3 s.h.
or
22S:102 Introduction to Statistical Methods
3 s.h.
or
22S:120 Probability and Statistics
4 s.h.

GPA Requirement
No course accepted toward the minor may be taken pass/nonpass. A students must have at least a 2.00 grade point average on all work attempted in the minor.

Transfer Credit
Students may apply a maximum of 4 s.h. of transfer course work toward the minor in informatics.

Applying for the Minor
Students may declare a minor in informatics through ISIS. This will trigger a degree audit for the minor which will be available on ISIS the following business day.
