Abstract

In this talk I will introduce the concepts of manifolds and show how manifolds can be used for smooth surface reconstruction. I will highlight two applications (heart modeling and articulated joint analysis) where manifold surfaces play a useful role. In particular, manifolds are well-suited for representing multiple data sets (e.g., electromagnetic potential, color) on a single surface, and for comparing surfaces of similar shapes.
