Scholarship Criteria

Academic Year 2008-09

Arthur Collins Scholarship(Rockwell Collins)
Five or six awards of $1,000 are available to students who meet the following criteria:

• Awarded on the basis of scholarship, leadership and personal integrity
• Display strong academic performance (3.0 GPA or better)
• Open to an internship or co-op opportunity with Rockwell Collins
• Preference will be given to women and minorities
• Undergraduate (at least sophomore level by Fall 2007) or graduate standing

Cerner Corporation Scholarship
One award of $1,500 to a student with the following qualifications:

• GPA of 3.0 or above
• Member of the UI ACM or IEEE organization
• Preference given to students having an interest in pursuing information technology as a career
• Junior/senior standing in 2008-09

David Spang Award
One David Spang Award of $2,800 is available to a student with the following qualifications:

• Awarded on the basis of academic achievement
• Graduate or undergraduate standing
• Well-rounded student

Gerard P. Weeg Scholarship
Two awards of $1,000 are available to students with the following qualifications

• Awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement
• Graduate or undergraduate standing

John Deere Foundation Scholarship
Two to four awards of $1,000 to $1,500 are available to students with the following qualifications:

• Preference will be given to women and under-represented minorities
• Awarded on the basis of academic achievement
• Graduate or undergraduate standing

Principal Financial Group Foundation Scholarship
One award of $1,000 is available to students with the following qualifications:

• Preference will be given to students who have completed at least one COBOL course
• Must be a U.S. citizen

To be eligible for some scholarships, students must be a declared Computer Science or Informatics major at The University of Iowa. Previous scholarship recipients are eligible to apply.
