Earning a Minor in Computer ScienceEffective Fall 2007Minor Course RequirementsThe minor in Computer Science requires a minimum of 18 s.h. of course work:
Computer Science ElectivesAll computer science courses (except 22C:001, 22C:002, 22C:104 and 22C:109) may be used as electives, including any course at the 100-level or above. Courses at the 200-level or above may be used with instructor permission. 22C:109 Programming Languages and Tools may not be counted as an elective.Transfer Credit and Residence RequirementAt least 12 s.h. of the 18 s.h. must be taken at the University of Iowa. A student may transfer a maximum of 6 s.h. for credit towards the minor. Students excused from required minor courses may substitute other computer science electives. GPA RequirementNo course accepted toward the minor may be taken pass/nonpass. A student must have at least a 2.00 grade point average on all work attempted in the minor. ECE StudentsStudents in Computer and Electrical Engineering who have completed 59:006, 57:017 and 55:033 will receive 8 s.h. of credit for the three engineering courses and will be considered to have satisfied the requirements for 22C:016 and 22C:022. Applying for the MinorStudents may declare a minor in Computer Science through ISIS. This will trigger a degree audit for the minor which will be available on ISIS the following business day.
