In this class we are going to cover diverse topics in the area of
basic Numerical Analysis
We will rely on the mathematical software Matlab to implement
and understand algorithms and concepts.
The book used is Charles Van Loans' Introduction to Scientific
Computing. Emphasis will be given to projects and homeworks.

- Introduction to Matlab and Numerical problems:
1.4.2/1.4.3/1.4.4/1.5.1/1.5.2 (1.5 weeks)
- Polynomial Interpolation:
2.1/2.2/2.3/2.4/3.1 (2.5 weeks)
- Linear Systems:
6.1/6.2/6.3/6.4 (2 weeks)

- QR and Cholesky Factorizations:
6.1/6.2/6.3/6.4 (2 weeks)
- Nonlinear Equations:
8.1/8.2/8.4 (2 weeks)
- [] exam II: Covers everything after exam I.
- Numerical Integration: 4.1./4.2/4.3 (2 weeks)
- Initial Value Problems: 9.1/9.2/9.3 (2 weeks)
- [] exam III (final) : Covers everything after exam II.
- [] Possible extra topics: Splines and numerical PDE's.
Grading: Exams: 51% (17% each), projects: 35% and
homeworks: 14% . There will be approximately 3 projects and
7 homeworks.
