22C:005 Lab2
Due Date: Friday, February 9 at the beginning of the exam.
Purpose:
-
To practice using algorithms.
-
To practice using the <Table> tag.
-
To Practice using the <Img> tag.
Assignment:
This lab will consist of two parts. The first part will consist of lab exercises and questions from the text book.
In the second part, you will need to create two new web pages. You will need to have a link from your home page to the first page of assignment 2. Remember to end your file names in .html. You may also have to down load images off the internet, save them, then load them onto one of your web pages.
Part 1
-
Do Lab Experience 3 in the lab manual (p.21-24).

Record your answers for exercises 3.2 - 3.6. For exercise 3.6 explain your answer.

Do practice problem #2 in your text book (p. 59).

Do Exercise #15, then exercise #14 in your text book (p. 62). Note that figure 2.10 is the same as the algorithm in lab Experience 3.
Type up all your answers and turn them in along with the rest of the assignment. We will not except hand written assignments, they must be typed.
Part 2:
To complete the tables section of the lab, you will not need to use any other new tags beside the following:

As well as the following attributes:
Page 1: A multiplication table.
For this page you should have the following:

The Title bar should read A2 page 1.

"Assignment 2" and your name should appear centered and at the top of the page.

A link from page 1 to page 2 of the assignment.
-
A link from page 1 back to your home page.
-
A 5x5 multiplication table with a border. You will need to use the <Table> tags that you have learned in class. You may start your table with "1".
Page 2: A newspaper article.
For this page you should have the following:

The Title bar should read A2 page 2.

A link from page 2 to page 1 of the assignment.
For this page you will need to write 4 paragraphs in a two column newspaper style. This means that there should not be a border around any of the paragraphs or pictures. You will need to have two columns with 2 paragraphs in each column. The paragraphs may be on any topic you choose. In addition to the 4 paragraphs, you will also need to place three images in the two columns of your newspaper article. The images should be related to the subject of your article. Try and place the images so that they appear in the middle of the text. You should use the <Table> tags that you have learned in class.
Notes on down loading images from the internet:
For this assignment you may want to down load images that you find on the internet for later use. If you are using a PC you should do the following:

Place the mouse cursor over the image you wish to copy.

Click on the right mouse key and a table should appear.

Select save image as or save picture as. A new window should pop up. Remember the name of the file and the location on the harddrive where you saved it. Your image file will end in either .jpg or .gif. The file should not end in .html

Log into your web account and go down to where it says upload file.

There should be a BROWSE button. Click on the BROWSE button and find your file on the hard drive. Click OK then click on the UPLOAD button. You can now place your image on a web page.
What you need to turn in:

You will need to email your ta with your name, lab section, and your url address when you have completed the assignment.

You will also have to turn in a paper copy of your html code and the answers to the questions at the beginning of lecture. The paper should have your name and section number on it. You do not need to turn in a paper copy of images you used or their image files. Remember, that the copy you turn in must be typed. We will not accept hand written papers.

No late assignments will be accepted with out consulting the ta or instructor.
